A summer school for the bio-economy

In the Ghent Biobased Economy summer school, a comprehensive and integrated overview of the bio-economy is presented by a number of world-leading experts, who cover the complete process from biomass to bioproduct. In addition, societal aspects that influence the behaviour of consumers is also be dealt with, such as the “food versus fuel” debate and the use of genetically-modified organisms. The summer school is mainly oriented towards PhD students working in the field and it is organized in the historical city of Ghent, Belgium. It is scheduled for 19-22 August 2013. The previous edition in 2012 attracted 40 participants from 17 different countries. The Ghent Biobased Economy summer schools looks like an initiative that will grow substantially in the coming years.
